Slobodni radikali su kemikalije proizvedene tjelesnim procesima poput metabolizma hrane ili iz vanjskih izvora poput razli\u010ditih vrsta zaga\u0111enja.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>U velikim koli\u010dinama oni mogu o\u0161tetiti genetski materijal i \u0107elije tako \u0161to pove\u0107avaju rizik od karcinoma i kardiovaskularnih bolesti.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Med sadr\u017ei razne antioksidanse, uklju\u010duju\u0107i enzim glukoza oksidazu, askorbinsku kiselinu koja je oblik vitamina C, fenolne kiseline i flavonoide.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Studija koja se bavila uspore\u0111ivanjem efekata probavljanja 1,5 grama heljdinog meda u odnosu na kukuruzni sirup po kilogramu tjelesne te\u017eine, otkrila je da su ljudi koji su konzumirali heljdin med imali ve\u0107i porast antioksidativnog djelovanja u krvnoj plazmi u odnosu na grupu koja je konzumirala kukuruzni sirup.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Kako prosje\u010dna prehrana sadr\u017ei velike koli\u010dine \u0161e\u0107era i zasla\u0111iva\u010da, znanstvenici vjeruju kako bi zamjena kukuruznog sirupa medom mogla biti korisna za javno zdravlje.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Sni\u017eava kolesterol<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Prednost meda je i u tome \u0161to mo\u017ee smanjiti razinu kolesterola, posebno nivo LDL-a, odnosno lo\u0161e vrsta kolesterola.&nbsp; Visok nivo LDL-a mo\u017ee pove\u0107ati rizik od angine pektoris, bolesti srca, sr\u010danog udara i mo\u017edanog udara.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Nedavno provedena manja studija bavila se promatranjem osoba s prekomjernom tjelesnom te\u017einom ili pretilim u\u010desnicima. Ispitanici kojima su znanstvenici davali 70 grama prirodnog meda dnevno, tijekom 30 dana, zabilje\u017eili su smanjenje LDL kolesterola za 5,8 posto u usporedbi s onima koji su uzimali 70 grama saharoze, oblika \u0161e\u0107era u istom vremenskom periodu. Selvakumar<\/strong>, specijalistkinja za prehranu u Marylandu.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Znanstvenici su za potrebe studije koja je ispitivala u\u010dinke meda na djeci uzrasta od jedne do pet godina, koja su patila od no\u0107nog ka\u0161lja, prije spavanja davali 10 miligrama meda od eukaliptusa, meda od citrusa ili placebo.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Studija je otkrila zna\u010dajno pobolj\u0161anje kod djece koja su konzumirala med. Lokalna primjena meda poznata je u lije\u010denju opeklina i rana, \u010direva, poderotina i drugih ko\u017enih problema.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Mala studija otkrila je da lokalna primjena meda poti\u010de zarastanje rana kod osoba sa svje\u017eim traumatskim povredama ko\u017ee.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Med se nanosio natopljenom gazom koja se mijenjala svakog jutra i no\u0107i tijekom 15 dana. Nakon 15 dana, 80 posto sudionika iskusilo je smanjenu osjetljivost na bol, \u0161to znanstvenici pripisuju protuupalnim svojstvima meda.
